University of Colorado - Startups2Students 2011

Friday, March 11, 2011, 5pm-8pm in the Engineering Center at CU Boulder

Discovery Learning Center (DLC) 1B70 (note that parking is available in lots marked in pink on the map)

Thanks to everyone who is participating in the event, we'll see you all tonight!

Interested? Contact Ben Limmer (limmer {{at}} colorado {{dot}} edu).

Non-Presenting Companies: Due to the high volume of interest in this years event, we are opening more spots up for companies who want to network with Computer Science students, but did not register in time for a presenting position. If you fall into this category, we encourage you to attend the event, but without a presentation slot. The reasoning behind this is that we really want to focus on the networking at the event and therefore have to keep the presentations limited in number and brief. I will give non-presenting companies a shout-out at the beginning of the event and encourage you to attend the networking portion of the event. You will also be added to the wiki and company brochure for exposure to CS students.

startups2students is a collaboration between the University of Colorado and the Boulder/Denver early stage entrepreneurial community. The goal is to introduce students interested in summer programming internships or jobs with early stage companies in the Boulder/Denver area to these companies, as well as to introduce the students to people who have chosen a career and life path of entrepreneurship.

After the success of the last two events, CSUAC (the Computer Science Undergraduate Advisory Committee) at CU will be hosting another event on March 11, 2011. This free event is open to graduate and undergraduate computer science students attending CU. Food and refreshments will be provided...it's chill and casual. The format will be similar to that of the 2009 and 2010 events, so check out the agenda by clicking the year you're interested in.

Previous Companies (2009 & 2010):

AppVenture, EventVue, Everlater*, Gnip*, GoldSystems, GreenBen, Inspiring Apps, JobSiteVisitor.com, MapMyFitness*, Name.com, Next Big Sound, Occipital, Printfection, Rally, ReadyTalk, Rebit, Record Nexus, ReturnPath, ShipCompliant, Six88, SocialEyes, Standing Cloud, StartUp Guru, SurveyGizmo, TechStars, TravelFli, Vision Link.

* = Participant in 2009 & 2010

What to expect:

The event will start with brief presentations and insights from the participating companies. These presentations should be short (3 minutes) and expose students to the world of entrepreneurship and what each company does. During presentations, food will be provided. This will be followed by an informal chance to network (we recommend bringing business cards or the free iPhone application, Bump for use in networking).

5:25: Introduction by the organizer, Ben Limmer

5:30 - 5:35: Domino Award
